While teaching spoken English, I would mainly refer to books that focus on practical communication, vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar. Books such as English Grammar in Use, English Vocabulary in Use, and English Pronunciation in Use are some of the resources I find useful. However, I believe spoken English should be taught through a lot of practical activities, conversations, and real-life situations rather than just following a book. So, I would use these books as references and combine them with interactive speaking activities to help students become more confident and fluent. read less

I’d suggest these books for teaching spoken English: • English Grammar in Use – Raymond Murphy – very good for grammar basics and common mistakes. • Word Power Made Easy – Norman Lewis – useful for improving vocabulary. • English Vocabulary in Use – Cambridge – helps learners learn and use new words naturally. • Practical English Usage – Michael Swan – good reference for teachers when explaining confusing grammar and usage. • Ship or Sheep? – Ann Baker – useful for pronunciation practice. But personally, I wouldn’t depend only on books for spoken English. I prefer using daily conversation, role plays, discussions, vocabulary building, pronunciation practice and real-life situations along with these books. That gives learners much more speaking practice. read less
