You have to read a lot and hear a lot. You should think also in english and watch english news and write down the vocabularies and fiind its meanings and try and use it in day to day conversation.

He is a coward... is the right one since you have used "who", the subject is supposed to be "he". Only if you have used "which" then the subject becomes "it"
