Once the level is identified then start with making him practice basic grammar, next would be for him to start writting small passages and dthen he must read them loud and clear to you. Later ask him to read and watch simple english books and videos and soon you should start recoding a few of the student's videos. THIS WILL BE WELL BEGUN read less

You don't need to be an expert to teach someone spoken english. Just teach him the daily usage sentences which can be used in daily life.
