Your first step must be, stop underestimating yourself. Speaking English is like learning driving or cycling, you are scared in the beginning but fly later. begin with easy things. Try with your daily life and routine activities. Read interesting English novels (Chetan Bhagat's), read social essays aloud, watch English movies (Indian English movies first), be with people who are good at English and copy them. News paper reading is good but sometimes it lessens your confidence as it contains heavy vocabularies and tricky language. Get rid of your hesitation. Once you are confident, you will the master. Hi Jatin It's very easy to give suggestion for those who can speak in English, but when a person from non- english back ground tries to speak in english, it really makes that person gone through a big pain because the people around him or her are ready to find mistakes. But still we can not think about others that is their problem... The best thing to start with is- first get some confidence and "Don't care attitude" while speaking English and become free and frank in speaking English.Dont care about people who are saying negative to you, because they are really not important in your life.Have some mentor or guide in life who is always approachable whenever you are in need and the last thing is make this language as your "URGE" not just an interest, because interest may fed away by the time and future challenges, but an Urge is kind of "DO OR DIE" condition.it never fails! Initially you should concentrate on those words which are already there in your mind, try to use those words.reqding news paper is good but may not be effective during initial strages because you may get some words which may confuse you and take away your interest from the language.try to atleast use those words which are already waiting for you to be used first and then slowly and gradually get some new collection. You will be surprised to know that we almost use 70% of english while we speak our mother tongue but the problem is all these words are just scattered in our mind, which need to be managed and guided properly. Don't ever think that you are weak in English, basically you are yet to be expert in English.always Language and its technicalities are not only the problems , but our own attitude and own low self image are the reason behind my it. First of all, you must have the interest to learn, and learning starts with enthusiasm. Be ready to accept criticism from people who do not know to encourage and how to encourage since they themselves do not want to learn. Start with grammar books of lower classes then continue to higher ones. Read English newspapers, story books or novels refer to the dictionary when you are confused with a word. Be bold to speak English especially in an atmosphere where English is spoken and be ready to accept correction. read less
