Lesson text:
Naming Words and Action Words
A naming word names a person, place, animal, or thing. A doing word tells us what someone or something does.
Examples:
- Riya reads.
- The dog runs.
- The children play.
In each sentence, the naming word tells us who or what the sentence is about. The doing word tells us what action is happening.
Try it: Find the naming word and doing word in each sentence:
- The bird sings.
- Aman kicks the ball.
- The teacher writes on the board.
Extra challenge: Write two sentences of your own. Underline the naming word and circle the doing word.
