While Tagalog borrowed from Spanish, Spanish itself is a linguistic melting pot. Cognates and Shared Words - Interestingly, due to common origins in Latin and other linguistic crossroads, Tagalog and Spanish have cognates—words that look and sound similar, often with similar meanings.

No, Tagalog is an Austronesian language, not even an Indo-European language, much less a Romance language. The grammar and base vocabulary of Tagalog are wildly different. Any Spanish speaker expecting a free ride could end up disillusioned.
