The Spanish language has its roots in Vulgar Latin and began evolving around the 9th century. Modern Spanish started to take shape in the 13th and 14th centuries.

If you wish to travel to the spanish speaking countries, which are easily more than 20, spanish is the viable option. Morever, it is widely spoken throughout the world(2nd most). Do some research, for more insight.

No, that will demotivate the child. Concentrate on few important, then slowly gradually improve the pronunciation.
