Ashesh Mitra

My name is Ashesh Mitra and by qualification I am an electrical engineer with 6 years of experience in the sale of electrical goods and brief stints in the marketing vertical. However, I possess excellent command over the English language since childhood and could instinctively detect very basic syntax errors (such as the use of “a” before a vowel as opposed to “an”) before I was even a fourth grade student. I also earned a respectable amount of money as a private tutor specializing in English and communication and worked with primary school children during my undergraduate years.

Post my undergraduate degree, I stepped away from working in corporate in 2023. The next two years (up to the present) have been spent working with children of different age groups, inclusive of volunteering briefly at an NGO for the mentally ill and understanding how learning has changed in the ten plus years since my passing my senior certificate exam and in the wake of a pandemic.

While working with children I found that I was able to teach them the basic concepts of English easily, using a customized curriculum that included songs and movies to train their ears to how the language is spoken and heard and also focused on writing and elocution to convey the necessity of emphasis and what it would do to the meaning and tone of a sentence. Naturally, I encouraged reading in all my students and still do.
I would like to conclude by asserting that teaching is my true vocation and I learn more from my students than they learn from me. I’m looking for opportunities to grow as a teacher, work with different sectors of society and above all bring my creativity to the table to facilitate a result oriented approach to learning.
