NO, it is a technical issue, it means you are not using your body correctly.

Yes, you need to train your ear if you go off-key. It is not nesscary that you can't hear it.. But more like you cant understand what you are listening to. Try playing with apps like perfect ear 2(for android) or tenuto(for iOS). There are so many other apps for ear training, try them.
