Hi all, I am having 5year of experience in mechanical design. Now I am thinking to switch to SAP. Which module will be suitable for me please suggest. Will I get Job as fresher or professional after certification?

Hi, you can go with PP, PM anything from SCM. But its a difficult task to get job as a fresher. However nothing is impossible. Good Luck!

In SAP major technical modules are SAP Basis and SAP ABAP. SAP Basis is suitable for students who look for a career in Administration, maintenance of servers, installations and configurations. SAP ABAP is suitable for students who are interested in coding. You can choose from SAP Basis or SAP ABAP.

You may have to elaborate your mechanical exposure. for now, I see you have good scope in Material management, MES (Manufacturing Execution System), MII (SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence), PLM (Product life cycle management) and all these areas are very much in demand. Obviously, when you do a course now to get into SAP, you will be apply for a position at a Junior level, but there are definitely opportunities in organizations like honey well who recruit for these specific positions and pay well too that will definitely match your current pay if you have been in a typical manufacturing industry. Although, I personally do not recommend SAP certifications, but sometimes they do wonders especially in MES, MII and PLM. Best of luck. read less

Yes it is right for you to shift your career to SAP HANA as it is a start of your career. As a technologist I have a lot of faith on the fundamentals which HANA is based on. From marketing point of view SAP has positioned HANA well and it is gaining popularity. I cannot believe that traditional DBs will still be used 10 years from now as we have reached a point where main memory is cheaper and processing power can scale up a lot with parallel processors. Technology companies will leave no stone unturned to transform/create products leveraging on the hardware technologies. And businesses will be quick to implement these products. HANA is one such product that you can safely put your bet on. In the possibility it fails, you have nothing to loose as fundamentals of HANA are no different than any competing product. read less
