Step 2 - Now we take Q's present age 7x and P's age after six years ( 5x + 6 ).
Step 3 - we know that the difference of the age given in Step 2 is 2.
According to question
7x - ( 5x + 6 ) = 2
7x - 5x - 6 = 2
2x - 6 = 2
2x = 2 + 6
2x = 8
x = 8 ÷ 2
x = 4
So P's present age is 5 × 4 = 20
Q's present age is 7 × 4 = 28
Their sum is 20 + 28 = 48
