Python has the same functionality, but you sometimes have to maintain the entire parsetree in your head and jump around to understand a few lines of terse code.On the other hand, Rubyists tend to forget about back compatibility...when they find a new and better syntax, they also deprecate the old one, forcing the programmer to be prettier. So if you need to install an old gem you sometimes end up re-writing it just to see if it is useful. read less
