Nope, specifically in Python 3.0, float doesn't matter. See the example below: In Python 2 versions: >>> 3/2 1 >>> 3//2 1 >>> float(3)/2 1.5 >>> 3.0/2 1.5 whereas in Python 3.0 >>> 3/2 1.5 >>> 3//2 1 This is the difference. Hence no worries of float in Python 3.0
