I have learnt Tabla under the guidance of Pt. Tanmoy Bose for the last 17 years. I am from Kolkata, West Bengal and i am residing here to study sound engineering. I have assisted my guruji for more than 7 years and has taken his classes when he went abroad. So I have a experience of 4 years of teaching also. I used to be a visiting faculty for percussion in Shakiri Begum Memorial Trust which is basically Ustad Rashid Khan's School of Music. I have been also playing in concerts with my instrumental band, with my guru and some different experimental projects. Pt. Arvindkumar Azad is the disciple of the great Tabla maestro of the Benares Gharana, 'Tabla Samrat' Padmavibhushan Pt. Kishan Maharaj.Originally fromJamshedpur, he first started learning from his illustrious father, Pt. Lalji Shrivastava, and is the fourth generation in his family playing Tabla. He has now settled in Pune for the last 25 years, and has devoted himself totally to Tabla playing. He is an acclaimed soloist, and has performed extensively in India as well as abroad - in Russia, Italy, Germany, France, Vietnam - to name a few.
