work on the phonetics. which means if you know how to pronounce it you can guess how it is spelled. But, for the ones which spell differently, just try to remember them. And the best solution is to make reading your hobby! That will go a long way!

example : thieves' we put the apostrophe after the 's', unlike 'thief's' where we put it before the 's'.
