Gulani Music Class

Shri Ramesh Gulani was born on 18th Sept 1947. His early childhood days were spent in chandrapur. Following an unfortunate incident, which resulted in the loss of eye-sight, he was enrolled in the nagpur blind school.This was not only the begining of his acadamic educcation, but also the commencement of flute lessons during the music class in school under the able guidance of erudite flute player shri S.G Deshkar and late Shri B.G Kanherkar of Nagpur. Often,he used to participate in school orchestra.
His father encouraged his liking towards the flute. According to a custom of a Sindhi Samaj (to which he belonged), a blind child should be given away to some temple, where he will sing and earn his living. But, Shri Gulaniâ??s father strongly opposed this and, instead of yielding to community pressure, urged his son to persue his passion further. He passes the S.S.C exams with distinction in music subject. As a result, he got the govt scholarship for 2 years. He attained the â??sangeet Visharadâ?? degree in vocal in 1966 and flute in 1967. He completed his graduation in music at the Nagpur university. In 1973, he passed the audition test for AIR for flute and was offered a job as a flute-player on the AIR in 1974 in pune. Later,he attained the â??Sangeet Alankarâ?? degree under the guidance of Shri manohar Dabke and reached unimaginable heights through self-discipline and relentless riyaaz.
