Let's play 'God' here for a bit . Imagine you have an idea of creating a perfect life form that can think for itself . Now, despite being a god, you know that you can't just create a miracle and will such an entity to appear. So, the first thing you do .. is ... identify a location that is most feasible for such a 'life-form' ... ( ex .. the earth ) ... The next thing you consider is , what are the requirements for such a entity to thrive .... you then consider the environment , food sources, flora & fauna and so on ... Ultimately you start from the smallest cell organism and estimate that it would take approximately 1.2 billion years for the super 'entity' to be created . So you plan accordingly and take precautions of avoiding ricks such as 'comets', 'earthquakes', 'meteor strikes' etc. and finally, if you (god) are able to do an awesome job .... there will be some guy in Mumbai posting a weird answer to a fundamental question posted by a lovely lady who resides elsewhere !!!! Project Management is no different !! :) Merely managing the entire process fro the begining to the end. read less

Project management ensures that the required set of items that need be focussed on is taken care of, while a person or a group of persons (team) embark on a specific journey. That journey is to result in a specific end goal. Project management ensures that there is atleast one person who has all the knowledge, tools, techniques and the wherewithal to keep everything ticking until that journey is completed. What happens without project management? If a team is embarking on a journey towards a end goal, someone may get appointed/voted/selected to lead. It is not assured if the team or that lead has all the required knowledge, tools, techniques, resources at their disposal to start, progress or conclude that journey. read less

The things that scheduled are the things that get done and the things that get done are the only things that get scheduled. First thing to do is identify your problem statement(something is not right), then convert that to an opportunity statement(we can do this to better it) and finally come up with your goal statement(let the rubber hit the road) to materialize your objective by giving it a timeline of-course with tolerance.(we are all human beings not machines) read less
