Verify if the difference between the consecutive terms is the same.

Experienced mathematics faculty

If the difference between all the consecutive terms is same then they are in AP. For ex 3,7,11,15,19..... Here difference (7-3) =(11-7) =(15-11) and so on.. between all the consecutive terms is 4. So they are in AP.

Subtract the adjacent numbers of a series and note down the result. If the result of subtraction is same all the subtractions then it is a arithmetic progression series. In other words, An arithmetic progression is a sequence of numbers such that the difference of any two successive members is a constant.... read more

Math Magician, Computer Wizard

Take any three consecutive terms, if the twice of middle term is equal to the sum of remaining two then series is in A.P.

If d (common difference) is same for different values of n , then the given list of numbers form an AP .

A sequence is in AP when the difference between all the consecutive pairs is same. Eg:2,5,8,11,14,17,20,23...... difference is (5-2) = (8-5) = (11-8) and so on....

Tutor

for arithmetic progression , numbers should be in sequence with common difference.. e.g.- 2 , 4 , 6 , 8 , 10 here common difference between two succesive numbers is 2 ..so they are in A.P.
