because strings arranged in grand piano are horizontal,so more space for sound...but in upright pianos,they are vertically arranged which results in less space for sound.

That is not necessarily always the case. A good boston/essex upright is far far better than most baby grand pianos. The basic and most important difference is of the resonance due to the length of the strings. Grands produce a much louder and resonate longer than uprights
