Coming to security, Java is very powerful to develop web applications. But, you must have good programming skills for learning or implementing Java. PHP is the simplest programming language to develop web applications and requires basic programming knowledge.

Well, every language has its own specialty. It will depend upon your requirement. If you need a quick start and get things done in short span with good features php is best to get started. Java and python are more powerful but the learning curve is long and smaller/mid size companies dont use them in India. Php also gives more options for students who wants to enter development domain as freshers or start their own freelancing business. read less

What is the best way to learn PHP without taking any coaching classes?
If you have prior knowledge on any server side programming definitely you can learn it on your own without attending classes. There are so many online tutorials to learn . Wish you all the best.

I am working as a senior PHP Developer with more than 8 years of experience. I am familiar with almost all major PHP and CMS and frameworks. But I am getting way less package than the market standards for my experience? What would be the best technology/domain for me if I want to make a shift in my career with good salary?
As per your experience now you should move to data science, Big Data and Hadoop.
