Apart from the look and the shape the difference lies in the piano action. They work on entirely different mechanisms. It cant be explained here fully as it takes years of studying to fully understand the workings of both. strings are vertical in an upright which is standing next to a wall and a grand piano has horizontally strung strings stands on three legs with a lid opening as you may have seen in movies

Tune every 5 months at A440hz. Keep away from humidity factors like window sill. potted plants, moisture source like bathroom. Keep away from direct sunlight. Regulation to be done every 3 years.

A tuner would normally play a little bit..but not like a professional. So its not a compulsory criteria. Tuning is done by listening to beats between intervals. He would ideally have knowledge of chord structures and chord progressions

Piano frame is made from Cast Iron. The Mechansim or the action is mostly made from wood, leather, metal parts, ABS in newer pianos. Piano frame is made from Cast Iron. The Mechansim or the action is mostly made from wood, leather, metal parts, ABS in newer pianos. To every key there are upto three strings and more than 50 moving parts. The strings are made of steel and copper winding on the bass section. its quite complicated and vast study is needed to fully understand how its made and how it works. hence it can be handled only by professionals

What can I do about chipped keys?

I assume you are referring to Acoustic Piano keys. Piano keytops are available separately and they can be replaced. Ensure you have a piano technician first come and check the piano condition.
