Hello SRH, think of a person like a plant. It absorbs things from around it - from the soil, the air, the liquids and so on, and grows accordingly. It the plant receives all the nurturing and nutrients, it grows well and flourishes. If it is denied water, manure or is exposed to pests, it shrivels and eventually does not survive. Human beings are similar. We absorb what is around us. If we have a loving and nurturing environment around us, we bloom. If not, we develop a lot of negativity and inhibitions. When we are young, we cannot control a lot of what happens to us. But once we grow up and are independent, it is our choice as to how we handle situations and confront our issues. An interesting book to read would be 'Staying Okay' by Amy & Thomas Harris. This book is on 'Transaction Analysis' and has many strategies on how to lead a positive life. You have to identify your personality in general.It all depends on what environment you get exposed to during your developing years and whether you what to accept this environment or you resist to it .This is how you develop your personality slowly.The more open you are to ideas and more you try and accept new things you develop in different areas and that how you identify your interests and may be long term goals n life. But this doesnt happen with every body as they are shy and dont try for new things.You need some body to push you and appreciate you for development.But once you try doing things on your won you develop very fast.
