Group Discussion is used extensively by many companies, B- Schools and organizations. Group Discussions (GD) serve two vital purposes- i) They are an excellent screening tool when there is a large volume of applicants. ii) GD helps assess a canditate on parameters such as knowledge of content, ability to voice opinions, ability to be assertive, the ability to bring the group to a cohesive outcome. In order to practice for GR, remember that you need to first list out all the points that you can think of. The next step is to make sure that you lead the GD group in the right direction in case you are the one starting the discussion. Practice GD topics by holding regular discussions with your family members/ friends on relevant current affairs topics. Make sure that you facilitate discussions. Disruptive speakers seldom make great impressions. Be respectful towards your competition and you should be fine. Try involving other participants as well in the discussion.
