Teaching Experience in detail in Dance classes
I am a passionate dance practitioner, performer, and instructor with over 28 years of experience in dance, including 22 years of dedicated Bharatanatyam training under the guidance of the late Sri Kalamandalam Gopinath. For the past three years, I have been teaching Bharatanatyam, semi-classical, Bollywood, and freestyle dance, helping students develop their skills, confidence, rhythm, expressions, and stage presence. I have also received training in other Indian classical dance forms, including Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, and Kathak, which allows me to bring versatility and creativity to my teaching. My teaching approach focuses on building a strong foundation in dance techniques while making classes engaging, interactive, and enjoyable. For Bharatanatyam, I emphasize traditional techniques, adavus, mudras, abhinaya (expressions), rhythm, posture, and coordination. For semi-classical and Bollywood dance, I incorporate expressive movements, creative choreography, musicality, and performance techniques. I also choreograph solo and group performances for cultural programs, stage shows, school and college events, and special occasions, tailoring routines to suit different age groups and skill levels. I believe dance is not just about learning steps but also about developing discipline, creativity, confidence, and a deeper connection with music and movement. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students can explore their passion for dance, whether they are beginners or looking to enhance their existing skills.

Ask a Question
The main difference lies in their rhythm, style and purpose. Indian folk dances usually have lively, repetitive beats and are performed during festivals, weddings, harvest celebrations and other community gatherings. Classical dance forms like Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Kuchipudi follow more structured rhythmic patterns called talas, with greater emphasis on technique, expressions, footwork and storytelling. While folk dances are more about celebrating traditions and bringing people together, classical dances focus on artistic expression, discipline and often mythology or spirituality. Both are beautiful in their own way and reflect India's rich cultural diversity.
