Intro to boxing: this class will include general fitness, cardio, an introduction to the very basics of boxing like jab, cross, footwork, blocking and maintaining one's composure. A jab is a punch launched from one's lead hand, often used to check distance, ruin the flow of the opponent, and to set up combos. A cross is a punch launched from the dominant hand, used for power punching and knockout punches. Footwork are very precise movements that allow one to set up offence as well as allow defensive strategies. The class will also include basics such as form which is one of the most important parts of boxing and breathing techniques required to make sure there is efficient stamina management as well as avoiding "gassing out" and temperament required to box effectively which is primary when it comes to a confrontation. Keep in mind this is an introduction class, boxing is a very deep and complicated sport and it is impossible to learn everything in one class.
