Sumedha S. - Step Into Kathak With Grace

I am Sumedha Singh, a trained dance teacher specializing in Kathak, Bollywood dance, wedding choreography, and event choreography. I have around 8 years of experience in dance, including 5 years of regular practice and 3 years of teaching experience. Over the years, dance has become an important part of my professional journey, and I enjoy helping students develop their skills while also expressing themselves confidently through movement.

I have completed my Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and hold a Post Diploma in Kathak from Prayag Sangeet Samiti. My training in Kathak has helped me develop a strong foundation in rhythm, expressions, body movements, technique, and traditional dance practices. I combine this foundation with my experience in different dance styles to create sessions that are both structured and enjoyable for my students.

I have 3 years of offline teaching experience and 1 year of online teaching experience. During this time, I have worked with students with different levels of experience, from beginners who are starting their dance journey to students who want to improve their technique or prepare for a specific performance. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style according to their comfort, learning pace, and goals.

In my Kathak classes, I focus on developing a strong understanding of rhythm, footwork, expressions, hand movements, coordination, and overall presentation. I believe that learning Kathak requires regular practice and attention to detail, and I guide students step by step so that they can gradually build confidence in their movements. I also encourage students to understand the expression and meaning behind the movements rather than simply memorizing choreography.

Along with Kathak, I teach Bollywood dance and specialize in wedding and event choreography. For wedding performances and special events, I create routines according to the participants, their experience levels, music preferences, and the nature of the occasion. I aim to make the choreography enjoyable and practical so that participants can learn the steps comfortably and perform with confidence.

I also have performance experience and have performed on several international stages as well as in performances associated with the Ministry of Culture. These experiences have helped me understand stage presentation, performance confidence, expressions, and the importance of connecting with an audience. I bring this practical performance experience into my teaching to help students become more comfortable and expressive while performing.

I offer both online and offline dance classes and personalize my sessions according to each student's requirements.
