Hi Preeti,
Since there is a gap of 3 years, so I would suggest you start with Salesforce CRM as Administrator, It's so easy, and here you can understand complete business logic for a company and all.
Later you can go for Salesforce Development it would be easy because of Java, HTML, & SQL combo pack.
A combination of Admin + Developer will lead to work as a Salesforce Consultant.
