For real-time learning projects, my suggestion would be to follow the following steps which in turn will enhance your skills along with hands-on of a project -
1. Try to learn the basic constructs of the language/framework in which you want to build the application using various tutorials available on google.
2. Once through with the above step, try thinking of an application for one of your daily life use case and code that into an application.

Choose a simple daily life application, like attendance management.
Use google and follow any respective topic tutorial, like tutorialspoint, journaldev etc, first go through the basic constructs.
Try to make the above chosen application using the learning above.
Improvise the application by posting your issues on sites like Stackoverflow.
