The dictionary meaning of alteration is usually a slight change, in the appearance, character or structure of something. In the concept of networking, alteration refers to the ‘change in network topology’. Network topology refers to how devices are connected within a network, both physically and logically including all devices like computers, routers or servers. Changing the network topology protect an organization from targeted attacks because if the targeted organization changes the network topology, the attackers’ gained knowledge will become useless to their attacks. If any intruder attempts to enter the network using the old method then he or she can’t able to attack due to new security policy implemented by the organization. In this way network remain secure due to alteration of network topology.
