I believe every child is unique. Some require a little more help and patience with their studies than the others. And so your son, who is blessed to have a mother like you only needs a teacher who can teach him with patience and encourage him all through the academics along with your constant support.
I have dealt with students who are far below average when compared to their counterparts. And in the end, the only strategy that worked for me was patience and friendly behaviour. My students performed well later on. All you need is to gain their trust.
