During my time as a teacher , I had the opportunity to teach English to a class of 8th-grade students. This experience was both challenging and rewarding, shaping my understanding of classroom management, student engagement, and the importance of adaptability in teaching. One memorable unit involved teaching narrative writing. I began by introducing the key elements of storytelling—setting, characters, plot, conflict, and resolution. To make the lessons engaging, I incorporated multimedia resources, including short films and interactive story-building games. The students responded enthusiastically, often bringing their own creative ideas to class. One particular student, who initially struggled with writing, showed significant improvement over the course of the unit. With regular feedback and one-on-one support, he eventually submitted a short story that demonstrated creativity, structure, and strong vocabulary. His growth reaffirmed my belief in the importance of differentiated instruction and encouragement. Classroom management was another area where I gained practical experience. By setting clear expectations, creating a respectful learning environment, and maintaining consistency, I was able to manage a diverse group of learners effectively. I also learned to adapt my teaching style to meet the varied learning needs of my students, incorporating group work, discussions, and visual aids. Overall, this teaching experience helped me grow as an educator. It taught me patience, empathy, and the value of building positive relationships with students. It also reinforced my passion for teaching and my commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment where every student can thrive.
