Urmi Sameer dani

I am a trained Professional Classical Bharatanatyam Dancer, Teacher and Performer since 1987.
Urmi Dani, am hailing from Mumbai, India, emerges from a traditional Gujarati background, enriched with a diverse skill set.

With over 35 years of experience, I am a multifaceted artist excelling in Bharatanatyam, Folk Dance, Calligraphy, Bollywood Dancing, Yoga, and singing.

My journey began at the age of six under my late mother’s guidance, and I have been unwavering in my pursuit of excellence.

As the Artistic Director at Natyakala Academy of Bharatanatyam since 1987, I have nurtured numerous talents. Notably, I initiated my first batch of students’ Arangetram at a young age of 23, becoming one of the youngest Gurus to do so.

My academic achievements include a National Scholarship, Nritya Visharad, a Master’s degree in Bharatanatyam, and am UGC.NET Qualified for Ph.D. and Assistant Professorship.

I also hold a Guinness World Record in Bharatanatyam and was honored with the Maharashtra State Award for Best Teacher in 2023.
I have cleared my First and Second level Sanskrit Exam and will thrive to complete rest of the two levels too being my love for the Sanskrit Language.

I continue to share my passion for Bharatanatyam through teaching, performances, workshops, and my commitment to pursuing Ph.D. research for the art’s enrichment.
