I have cleared all my exams with either a first class or distinction. During MBBS, DFM and M.S. in Diabetes Care, I had to make several presentations and explain them to my peers which has made me comfortable with expounding on a topic in detail.
As a final year medical student, I found that teaching my juniors i.e. first, second and third phase medical students help me keep in touch with my basics, and the concepts in final year became clearer to understand. It also improved my interpersonal skills.
As an intern as well as during the post-internship jobs, teaching medical students, other healthcare workers and discussing clinical knowledge and skills was an integral part. During these teaching sessions, I found that good communication skills were as important as a sound knowledge base. To ensure that the person I was teaching could make the most of the learning opportunity, I used to read on the topic to be taught. After assessing the students needs, I aimed at creating a good learning relationship by creating an interactive session where the students could participate actively.
