Excel is good at lots of things, often because it is the only tool on a person's desktop that gets used for solving problems. You can do everything from data analysis to computation to reporting all in MS Excel. You do this because it works but not necessarily because it works well. There are too many situations where Excel is a bad tool. Still, because the hours to work on these sub-optimal solutions are "invisible" in terms of costs so you can never justify the cost, it would take to get a better solution written. It is also annoying in some aspects of charts - named ranges can't be used, but most users hardly use named ranges, so I doubt many people stumbled on that issue. Some of the more annoying things are when you want to use the "Move" function. You would not like having to resort to VBA to maintain persistences after a calculation. The fact of setting the Fill and Font colours without having to resort to conditional formatting, yeah that can be really tedious. Hope this helps. read less
