The evaluation context in DAX consider two context for an expression: Filter Context: it is a set of filters applied to any iterator or aggregation function in DAX. You can imagine it as a list of values allowed for one or more columns in one or more tables. These filters can be manipulated by using DAX functions such as CALCULATE and CALCULATETABLE, which modify the filter context where a DAX expression is evaluated. Row Context: it is the “current row” during a table iteration where a column reference can be evaluated. A calculated column and the expression applied to an iterator are always executed within a row context. read less
