Newton' first law (Law of Inertia) gives the qualitative idea, whereas Second law (Law of momentum) provides a quantitative approach of the first law.
According to second law F=ma
if F=0, then a=0
It means an object continues in its state(uniform motion or rest) until or unless an external force is applied.
It proves the first law.
