Answer: Cell Cycle Explained Simply
The cell cycle has two main phases:
1. Interphase – the resting & preparation phase
2. M Phase (Mitotic Phase) – the division phase
---
π 1. Interphase (Preparation for Division)
It looks like the cell is “resting,” but it’s actually very busy! Interphase has three stages:
Gβ phase (Gap 1):
The cell grows and makes proteins.
π§ͺ Think of it like a child growing up and getting strong.
S phase (Synthesis):
DNA is copied.
π The cell makes a complete backup of all its genetic material.
Gβ phase (Gap 2):
The cell prepares for division. Organelles grow and check if everything is ready.
π Like packing your bag and checking before a trip!
βοΈ 2. M Phase (Cell Division)
This is when the cell finally divides. It has two parts:
A. Mitosis (Division of Nucleus)
Mitosis is divided into 4 steps:
1. Prophase:
Chromosomes become visible. Nucleus breaks down.
2. Metaphase:
Chromosomes line up in the center.
3. Anaphase:
Chromosomes are pulled apart to opposite sides.
4. Telophase:
New nuclei form on each side.
B. Cytokinesis (Division of Cytoplasm):
Now the cell finally splits into two daughter cells.
---
π In short:
The cell cycle is like a well-planned mission:
Gβ: Grow
S: Copy DNA
Gβ: Get ready
M Phase: Divide smartly
