Experience in School or College
My teaching practice at HSS Chettikulangara has been a transformative and enriching experience. As part of my B.Ed. curriculum, I had the opportunity to teach Physical Science to students of class 8 (sections B and E). This experience allowed me to apply pedagogical theories in real classroom settings and develop essential teaching competencies. Over the course of my practice, I implemented lesson plans in both Physics and Chemistry, focusing on topics such as force, friction, atoms and molecules, and chemical equations. I experimented with student-centered methods including constructivist approaches, which encouraged active participation and critical thinking among students. Managing classrooms with varying levels of attentiveness was challenging at times, but it helped me grow in patience, adaptability, and classroom management skills. Beyond academic teaching, I was involved in invigilation duties during the Onam examinations, participated in co-curricular events like Kalolsavam and IT quizzes, and supported school activities such as midday meal service. I also engaged in community and cultural events, which helped me bond with the school community and understand the holistic development of students. One of the most rewarding aspects of my experience was witnessing students' gradual conceptual clarity and enthusiasm for learning. I also had the opportunity to collaborate with fellow teacher trainees and senior teachers, which deepened my understanding of effective teaching practices. Overall, this phase of teaching practice not only strengthened my passion for education but also affirmed my commitment to becoming a responsible, empathetic, and effective educator.
