I am a Carnatic Music vocal teacher. I learned classical Carnatic music through Gurukul style from my revered Guru in Chennai, blessings have come my way in form of many concerts in Chennai and opportunities to prep students for their concerts. I am currently teaching music across the world, with students in the US, India, Singapore and London.
For me, Carnatic music is one of most rewarding music, on terms of the vast literature available inside each composition, the heritage it offers and the voice development through the music itself. The cognitive development through music is really huge and that's one factor that makes music learning a must for all ages across the globe.

Apart from my music, I love Math. Music and Math have a common running thread and their teaching styles are similar. Students have to understand and internalize the basics very well to apply the underlying concepts, be it singing or solving math problems.
I have homeschooled my children in the US and in India, till 8th Std. Homeschooling has given me experience in developing varied teaching styles and keep a balance between concept understanding and giving more than enough practice to children. My key skills are
1. Explaining concepts to children in a personalized manner. Some students remember concepts in terms of story or a figure or a graph. It's my main strength: connection.
2. Know the childrens' strengths and weaknesses
3. Bring discipline and strategy in children's studying pattern and look into their basic approach to subjects. Some students have hatred or fear towards maths just because they have gaps in understanding few concepts in Algebra or Geometry or fractions, mostly.
