Sakshi Srivastava

I am a Kathak dance teacher and performer with over eleven years of experience training students across all age groups. Kathak is not just a dance form for me, but a living tradition that I am deeply committed to preserving and passing on with authenticity, discipline, and artistic sensitivity. I strive to create a learning space where students feel inspired to grow both technically and creatively.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lucknow University and a Master’s in Performing Arts from Bhatkhande Music University. My formal education and rigorous training have given me in-depth knowledge of Kathak, enabling me to guide students with clarity and a strong theoretical and practical foundation. I am formally trained in the Lucknow Gharana style, which strongly influences my teaching and performance approach.

My journey as a dancer has been enriched with several recognitions and achievements. I have been honored with a National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, received a Gold Medal in MPA Kathak from Bhatkhande Music University, and won the Sangeet Natak Akademi dance competition in the youth category. These milestones have strengthened my commitment to excellence and continuous learning.

As a teacher, I focus on nurturing a deep appreciation for the cultural heritage of Kathak. I believe that true learning comes from understanding not only the movements but also the history, philosophy, and emotional expression behind the dance. My classes encourage discipline, creativity, and self-expression, helping students develop a holistic connection with the art form.

I follow a structured and practical-based teaching methodology, supported by a well-planned curriculum. My sessions are interactive and designed to build strong foundational skills in footwork, rhythm, expressions, and repertoire, while also encouraging individuality and artistic growth. I adapt my teaching style to suit different age groups and learning levels.

I conduct both online and offline classes and also guide students for Kathak certification courses and examination preparation. My aim is to help students grow into confident performers while developing a lifelong respect and love for Kathak as a classical art form.
