You can use these apps for a few minutes each day when it best fits your schedule. After a few sessions, you’ll see your understanding really add up.

For everyone else, here’s a free Danish course on Duolingo! It’s the most popular language education platform worldwide, with 105 million users and counting (available on the web, Android, iOS, and Windows Phone).

How long does it take to become fluent in Danish? I'd say that you can learn to become conversational in Danish in 6 months, and that it would take around a year and a half of consistent daily self-study to become reasonably fluent. This, however, is highly dependent on a lot of factors.

During the time of Danish rule, Danish was a minority language in Iceland. Studying English and Danish (or another Scandinavian language) is mandatory for students in compulsory schools and also part of many secondary-level study programmes, so knowledge of the two languages is widespread.
