I would like to advice you to bear in mind that "teaching" is just like any other profession. Ergo, there is no need to glamorize or eulogize the profession. You have certain talent/skill; and anybody who wants to utilize them might want to approach you for your services. But the point, Shagun, is that for your prospective students - call them your "customers" - to approach you, they need to be made aware of your existence and what you can do. For that, you need to _advertise_ your services. You may contact them personally and market your services. Alternatively, there are a number of websites - Google "online learning management system" for a list - which you can join - and promote yourself. My final piece of advice is to shed your inhibitions and complexes about the "nobility" of teaching as a profession. Even those who are driven by the altruism of teaching in order to help pupils gain knowledge without expecting any payback in return, do indeed get a payback: this could be by way of an applause at a social function (which some organizer pays for), or admiration or respect. I hope I have made my point. All the best. read less

I think it is perfectly fine for a teacher to contact (potential) students. Thought it might seem uncomfortable at first, I do not think there is anything wrong in doing so. Do not be too confused and grab the opportunities that are coming along your way!
