Study practical Grammar, avoid book grammar, Study the usage of same word in different contexts contexts in a dictionary, I prefer Oxford Advance learners (At least a word a day), Learn the words in groups that are frequently used in speech e.g. could you please......, I would like to ......... etc....

Study practical Grammar, avoid book grammar, Study the usage of same word in different contexts contexts in a dictionary, I prefer Oxford Advance learners (At least a word a day), Learn the words in groups that are frequently used in speech e.g. could you please......, I would like to ......... etc. Idioms and phrases e.g. like, keep abreast, Jack of all trades. etc. collocation e.g. we say heavy rain not severe rain, and finally many people are unaware that the news paper is the biggest resource to improve one's English Skill Staat reading 'The Hindu' It gets at least six months to get accustomed to it. See in about six month you will be a confident and different person. read less

To improve you language you need to learn words group (Lexical chunks), e.g. Even though, or else, would you mind...etc. Collocation, e.g. We say heavy rain not severe rain. Commonly used idioms and phrases, e.g. make a mark, make a fortune etc. Read the usage of a word in different contexts ( in dictionary) e.g. The carpet of Kashmir, He was given a red-carpet welcome etc. and finally read a news paper like 'The HIndu' (Don't look into dictionary for meaning every now and then) try to understand from the context. Read news that interests you read less
