How To Master German Articles: An Effective Technique

Indu

As you see the whole german grammar revolves around these article Der Die & Das. When it comes to applying rules for all four cases (Nominative, Accusative, Dative & Genitive) used in German or applying adjective endings, using definite and indefinite articles We need to know the right article/gender of a noun. For some nouns, it is very easy to identify like Die Lehrerin (der Lehrer, die Krankanpflegerin (der Krankanpflegar) usw. But there are some easy techniques to use which help us to mark the right article even if we don't know the meaning of noun. Oranise them in the following order:

1. Der: ig-ling-or-ismus+er.

Which we would read like a single word: Der iglingorismuser

2. Die: heit-ung-keit-ei-schaft-ion-ität-ik.

Which we would read like a single word: Die heitungkeiteischaftionitätik

3. Das: tum-chen-ma-ment-um-lein.

Which we would read like a single word: Das tumchenmamentumlein

The endings are combined together in a way that you can pronounce them as a word. Try pronouncing the word breaking it in different parts first and then practise it many times. You should be able to memorize it faster.

Also refer this table for more clarity.

Please give me your feedback if above technique works well for you.
