They are things involved firstly using almost kinds or student love to help a teach even at home, secondo recording depend to the situations like you said "with or without" but permission always is important in such as way of basic education from home to school and behavior.

The answer is students can record. Whether they should do it or not is an ethical question. Ethically, they should not. But technology allows them to do it.

I dont believe in unethical ways of learning besides it ll encourage the students inattentive in the class. Yes a teacher should have certain lectures exclusively for recording purpose in the class for long term benefits of students.
