Experience in School or College
During my teaching journey in both school and college settings, I have developed and consistently followed an inquiry-based teaching approach for Mathematics and Science. I believe that these subjects are best understood when students are curious and actively involved in the learning process. I always encourage students to ask questions, explore, and think critically about the concepts I teach. Whether it’s understanding why a mathematical formula works or exploring the underlying principles of a scientific phenomenon, I emphasize curiosity-driven learning. I have observed that interactive teaching methods—such as hands-on activities, class discussions, group problem-solving, and real-life application-based tasks—are far more effective and enjoyable than passive lecturing. In both Mathematics and Science, I avoid dictating notes. Instead, I provide study materials in accessible formats like blogs or shared digital resources, which helps students review and learn at their own pace. When using visual aids such as slides, diagrams, or models, I make sure to present information in a clean, focused manner. I limit the amount of content per slide to ensure that students remain engaged and are not overwhelmed by too much text. I believe in a ‘learning by doing’ approach. In Mathematics, I encourage students to solve problems independently first, before stepping in to offer guidance or corrections. In Science, I advocate for trying out experiments or conceptual activities to help them discover the answers themselves. I never penalize mistakes; instead, I see them as valuable opportunities for learning and growth. My classroom culture promotes active learning, curiosity, and resilience. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel confident to take intellectual risks, ask questions freely, and learn from their errors. Overall, my teaching philosophy for Mathematics and Science is centered on engagement, exploration, and student empowerment.
