I was a Teach for India fellow, working towards eradicating educational inequity among the urban poor. I have been teaching forty five 5th & 6th graders over the past 2 years. The primary job role, not only included teaching children but also building relations with various stakeholders, community engagement, investing parents and other community members into projects in the best interest of children.

During the fellowship at Teach For India, as a value driven person and fellow working at the grass root level, I led a class of 45 curious sixth graders. My kids agreed upon individual growth plans which lead the class to gain 1.2 years of growth in reading comprehension and 50% growth in Math on an average. This was an outcome of thorough data driven differentiated regular plans, evaluation, celebrations for progress and reiteration by providing feedback.

As a fellow, I initiated a school transformation project in a low income school in Kolkata, West Bengal. The project concentrated on equipping the teachers to carry out broken down style of teaching adapted by TFI. Thus, spreading the teaching strategies to raise education standards in places possible.
