Ionic bond means Completely sharing electrons, whereas a Covalent bond is a partial sharing of electron or bonding pair.
Carbon-Carbon bond is a covalent bond between carbon atom. Carbon has a valence electron of 4. So it is necessary to gain more than 4 electrons to satisfy stable electronic configuration, i.e. Octet Rule. So, Carbon can form 4 covalent bond are the chemical bond that forms b/w Non-Metals. Non-Metals are covalent Carbon atoms that can also form double bonds in compounds called alkenes and triple bonds in compounds called alkynes.
