Java has a pretty heavyweight startup time, so for short-running tasks, chances are C will be done before the JVM has even started up.

As operating system is written in c, the virtual machines is written in so the c is faster than java.

output of C program is an executable file where as java requires libraries written in native language to convert and make them available for running in jvm.
