UML is a pictorial language used to make software blue prints. Means its independent to Languages. But after design you can generate code signature using tools. For learning internet is best.

Books are the excellent source of learning. UML : Instant UML by Pierre Allain Muller (Apress) Java : Core Java by Gary Cornell and Kay Horstmann (Pearson) . . Or find a good teacher.

UML is used for pictorial representation it is not associated with any coding technology. once the bule print is ready you can implement it with any technology according to the need like JAVA, dotnet etc...

Try software Rational rose along with JBuilder. Tried and tested combination. Works very well.
